Learning Solutions PDF Archive

Learning Solutions Magazine, a mainstay for anyone involved in the management, design, development, and implementation of e-Learning, was originally published in PDF format. We launched a new online edition of the magazine in November 2009. We have already moved the last five years of content to the new Learning Solutions Magazine site and are in the process of migrating all content there.

We urge you to visit the new Learning Solutions Magazine.

Title: Teacher Presence: Using Introductory Videos in Online and Hybrid Courses

Author: Paula Jones, Kim Naugle, and MaryAnn Kolloff

Abstract:
E-Learning is always about people, not technology. This means that whatever helps learners to connect with the content and each other is paramount, and the main way this happens in many courses is through an instructor. This week’s article brings research to support this observation, and suggests that an introductory video could be essential to helping learners and their instructor connect in online and in hybrid courses.
