Handout Instructions
In this section you'll find the steps and guidelines you'll need to organize and prepare the handouts for your session.
Submission of handouts
-
If we do not receive your handout materials by October 1, 2008, YOU are responsible for making copies of your handout materials, and for any related costs including, but not limited to, copy and shipping costs.
-
All materials MUST be received in electronic format. Please send via email attachment to Brent.
- Send the original files (PPT, DOC, etc.)
- We will convert your original files to PDF
- Do NOT send PDFs of your session materials!
Distribution of handouts at the event
- Handouts will be duplicated on paper for distribution at the event, and in electronic format for distribution on the event Resources Page.
Access to session materials on post-event Resources Page
- Concurrent session materials will be posted on the DevLearn 2008 Event Resources Page
- All handouts received before November 10, 2008 will be posted on the event Resources Page for access by registered attendees before the event
- Any handouts received after the date of November 10, 2007 will be posted on the Event Resources Page shortly after the event
- Pre-Conference session materials will NOT be posted on the Event Resource Page
- If you do not have handouts for your session, please notify Brent by October 1, 2007
What your handouts can consist of:
-
Your handout materials can include reproductions of overhead slides, exercises, resource lists, job aids, cheat sheets, bibliographies, etc.
- We encourage you to submit more than just a PowerPoint presentation containing only bullet points.
- We also encourage you to limit your use of PowerPoint, and think about ways you can engage the audience to enhance the learning experience.
- Use the file format that best supports your presentation content.
Testing your handouts for readability

Proofing your handouts
-
You are responsible for getting permission to reproduce any copywritten material that is included as part of your handout materials.
-
You are responsible for spell checking your materials, and for also checking for accuracy in any samples, programming code, formulas, etc.
Formatting handout headers/footers/coverpage
-
We will format your handout(s) with headers, footers, and page numbers.
-
We will then PDF all of your documents, and combine them into one file
-
We will also put a cover page on your handout
-
Because we need your complete handouts in advance in order to make copies,
-
-
If for any reason you cannot meet the deadline, contact Brent Schlenker by phone: 602.368.2967 or email Brent
