The gLearning Challenge

Attention all e-Learning professionals! The gLearning Challenge is your chance to use the slew of free and easy-to-use Google tools to showcase your e-Learning design chops. Your entry must use any, or many, of these free Google tools to create a course, a module, or even some informal learning. Get Creative! Win Prizes! Be crowned the Master of gLearning! 

Overview & Rules 

The gLearning Challenge is about demonstrating your skills at being an innovative e-Learning solution designer. It provides a platform for e-Learning Professionals to showcase their creativity, innovation, skills, and talents in adapting to new technologies and designing effective learning solutions. The rules are simple:

  • Create a learning solution using ONLY Google products. There are many of tools to choose from. 
  • Be creative and think about solving a business need or teaching a specific topic to a target audience. 

Why do I want to spend my time on this?

This is an opportunity for you to show the world your design skills. Your reward will be recognition of your skills and talent as an e-Learning instructional design professional and 100 Guilders. Your submission will be showcased here, and all links will lead to you and your project ... not your employer. This is about YOU, not who you work for OR the professional tool skills you have. It's about improving and adding to your development tool skill set while demonstrating your ability to create effective and innovative learning solutions.

The Process

  • Decide on a topic or business need.
  • Get to know the many free Google apps and products.
    • Remember, you must use only the free Google tools to design your solution.
  • Design your solution
    • You can create a design document containing multiple links to different parts of your solution, or one link that launches your solution when clicked.
  • Develop your solution – This does not need to be 100% complete, but complete enough to convey your idea.
  • Be sure to make your project public so that your submission can be viewed.
  • Submissions will be accepted until Friday, March 6, 2009.

You can go to Google.com and find their complete list of applications, but here is a short list to help you envision the possibilities.

NOTE: Google sells a bundled product for businesses called Google Apps. You do not need purchase this bundle because the apps in the bundle are also available for free (i.e. Google Mail, Calendar, Groups, etc).

Winner Selection

The contest is a learning opportunity for everyone. Winners will be selected in several categories that will be defined by the scope of the submissions. All who submit viable submissions will receive 100 Guilders. Only one submission per person. After submitting a viable gLearning Solution, it will appear on this page, IMPORTANT NOTE: We reserve the right to remove submissions for any reason.
