The Super Bowl, the World Cup, the World Series … the Great ILS Challenge. That’s right, it’s back, and version 2.0 is better than ever! Last year a roomful of lucky attendees got to watch as three top-notch designers created game-based solutions to deal with an incredibly difficult learning challenge. This year we’ve invited three more ILS/Serious Games experts to step up to the challenge. The Guild understands that, whether you call them Immersive Learning Simulations (ILS), Serious Games, or the greatest thing since sliced bread; you are looking for ways to use these powerful technologies and methodologies to improve learning outcomes for your organizations. You are also looking for inspiration and ideas for any and ALL of your e-Learning projects.
Come to this session and watch as prominent designers wrestle with difficult issues, and come away with inspiring solutions built on the principles of game-based learning. The last Challenge dealt with teaching prisoners, fresh out of jail, how to successfully re-enter society. The next Challenge focus will be equally as tough, and will lead to equally as impressive solutions. We will announce the challenge in a few weeks.
The session is set up as a panel, and after an introduction of the challenge problem and the panel members, each designer will get a portion of time to describe their solution. A big part of the session will be the Q&A, driven by you following the presentations. Ask questions. Challenge assumptions. Unearth design processes. You are an important part of this session.
This is not a session about templates or tools or rapid development, but rather is an inspiring session about how thinking differently about tough problems, using an ILS/Serious Games set of tools and theories, can lead to extraordinary solutions. The goal is for you to be energized, and motivated by this session into exploring more deeply how you can implement ILS/Serious Games and great design within your own organization to improve learner outcomes.
