Virtual worlds, such as Second Life, are an important emerging technology. Daily, blogs, case studies, and white papers describe virtual worlds and their current and future impact on learning and collaboration. But, where do you start? Perhaps you tried Second Life on your own, and felt a sense of frustration, or you may be interested, but just a little scared. For organizations, the challenge of getting started can be daunting, but creating content in Second Life isn’t any more difficult than using HTML, Flash, Authorware, or other authoring programs. This workshop is all about getting started in Second Life, and doing it yourself!
Session participants will learn how to function in a virtual world. You’ll learn how to set up your avatar, move around, modify buildings, and how to obtain, use, and customize interactive objects such as video players. The key is learning where to get started. You’ll also learn safe ways to advocate for virtual worlds within your organization.
BONUS! Attendees will receive a FREE CD packed with Second Life tutorials
