Too often we tend to fall back on our typical technology tools. While many people are familiar with the mainstream New Media services such as YouTube, Podcasting, and Facebook, there are a host of other services you can use to spread your message and engage your audience. This session will introduce you to some new technologies and services while showing you the importance of seeking out new tools and evaluating how e-Learning professionals can use them effectively. Learn how you can record and distribute audio and video using nothing more than your cell phone, stream live video of your presentations and classes for free, or even create your own social media site.
Participants in this session will learn about some less traditional New Media services and why and when you might use each one. The power of New Media is in the “doing,” and these services make it easier than ever before. You’ll learn about Utterli.com, Seesmic.com, 12seconds.tv, uStream.tv, Stickam.com, TokBox.com, DimDim.com, Ning.com, Blip.tv, Facebook Fan Pages and Groups, and YouTube QuickCapture. You’ll learn how easy it can be to create media on the fly so you can capture unique events and information for your students.
In this session, you will learn:- Why it is important to investigate every new technology and tool
- How to use non-traditional tools in developing and delivering new media content
- The state of the art in today's new media tools
- How e-Learning is reaching far beyond the desktop PC and into student's pockets
