MOSH Pit Program Planner and Host Neil Lasher

Neil Lasher is a leader in the field of e-Learning in Europe. With many years of learning and training experience, Neil imported the first U.S.-created authoring tools for CBT and helped organizations become self sufficient in their own creation of e-Learning. A regular author of instructional design papers, and a lively sought after speaker for learning conferences, Neil had a regular “Opinion” column in Human Capital Management magazine and is published in a number of others. Current Chairman of the Global Network U.K. for the American Society of Training and Development (ASTD) and a Freeman of the City of London, Neil works and lives in London.

On this first day of mLearnCon, the mLearning MOSHPit will host a variety of sessions focused on mobile operating systems and how they differ. Join in with developers of every level and understand the issues.

FB103 - Serious Games on Such a Small Screen? Are You Serious? with Kris Rockwell
With the growth of serious games in learning technology, what are the challenges for the smaller screen and the different operating systems?

FB104 - Comparing the Four Main OS Systems with Chad Udell
This session will examine the four main systems – Windows, Android, iPhone/Pad, and BlackBberry. What’s the difference? Does the OS change what is possible? What can they offer you, and which should you be choosing?

FB105 - Open Surgery Panel with Ellen Wagner, Kris Rockwell, Richard Clark, Judy Brown, Paul Clothier, and Neil Lasher
Bring your issues for a pop-in session. MLearning experts will be on hand to answer your questions during the “surgery.”

FB106 - The Great Debate: Flash vs HTML 5 with Clark Quinn and Ellen Wagner
The question on everyone’s mind is, “Will Adobe or Apple win this battle of animation and interactivity to the mobile device?” Two industry experts will each take one side, and you have the opportunity to ask the questions. Not to be missed — this will be a HOT debate!

Wednesday, June 16: My Device Is Bigger than Yours!

On the second day, the mLearning MOSHPit will focus on the different devices in the market. How will you choose which to develop for? Hear some of the leading industry experts recount their experiences.

In Europe, Android has gained pace in the market and now takes almost 20%. Come and see what the fuss is about. Take a virtual exploration of one of the many devices using this operating system.

FB204 - What is Powering the Back Office for Mobile?  with Richard Clark
Take a look at the “Cloud.” Learn what its place is in the delivery of content, and that, to be able to deploy to mobile devices, it is important not to forget the back office.
