P05 eLearning as Strategy: Planning the Performance Ecosystem

8:30 AM - 4:30 PM Monday, November 14

108

Organizations are implementing eLearning, but on a tactical basis without knowing how the pieces fit together. Professionals see rote content, curriculum silos, redundant content development, multiple portals, and an overall lack of integration. Learners have no consistent path for information; advanced learners are largely ignored; different groups are rewriting the same material; and the full suite of technology opportunities is not being used. In short, there’s no eLearning strategy.

In this workshop, you will explore a model that represents a strategic approach to eLearning. Starting from an organizational performance focus, this framework pulls together the problems seen and responds to the underlying causes. Throughout the day, you will proceed through the strategic components, indicating principles, tools, examples, and trade-offs of this model. This will give you a systematic way to view the goals of eLearning, which can guide you in developing your own strategy that makes sense of and integrates tactics (like asynchronous and synchronous courses, web 2.0, mobile, simulations, portals, and more) into an integrated, coherent, and comprehensible whole.

In this session, you will learn:

  • The elements of the performance ecosystem
  • Different strategic approaches
  • The role of a learning culture
  • Why continual innovation is a necessary complement to optimal execution

Audience:
Intermediate and advanced managers, directors, and senior leaders (VP, CLO, executive, etc.). Participants who have responsibility for strategic learning.

Technology discussed in this session:
Performance support, portals, social media, mobile, content management systems, and learning management systems.
