New Mobile Learning Experiences Built Using the Tin Can API

Mobile devices are becoming ubiquitous, which enables learners to engage in more informal learning and impromptu performance support. Historically, building learning experiences targeted specifically for mobile devices was not natively supported by SCORM and the associated tool sets.
In this session, participants will see brand-new mobile learning experiences built using the Tin Can API by both industry vendors and the ADL technical team. Several early-adopter vendors will be on hand to announce new features in their tools and to demonstrate exemplar learning experiences. Interactions that were not previously trackable will be monitored to build dashboards, leaderboards, and other dynamic forms of reporting. You'll see the unique capabilities of mobile devices (location awareness, gyroscope, etc.) utilized to show how the "design mobile first" mindset can enable brand new types of learning experiences using the Tin Can API.

- The issues with mobile content in current eLearning environments
- About ADL's Next Generation SCORM: the Tin Can API development project
- The impacts of the Tin Can API on eLearning platforms
- The Tin Can API release timeline and adoption activities
Technology discussed in this session: You'll see both native (iOS and Android) and Web-based mobile applications running on smartphones, tablets, and the desktop.
Audience: Novice to intermediate designers, developers, managers, and others interested in seeing (maybe experiencing) content and activities supported by Tin Can, and becoming familiar with the tools and technologies that support such experiences.
