With mobile learning increasingly gaining buzz in organizations, instructional designers are searching for ways to build their mobile design skill set. There are significant differences in designing mobile solutions as compared to eLearning. Most instructional designers are unaware of what those differences are, let alone how to approach design for mobile devices; it can be overwhelming to not even know where to start.

In this session, participants will experiment with online tools that can help you practice better mobile design. Not only will we discuss (conceptually) how you approach design for mobile, but we will also practice using a variety of tools to support you in each step of a mobile design workflow.

In this session, you will learn:

  • Why mobile design is so important
  • Programs to use for mapping your content
  • Great tools for wireframing your project
  • What to use to help you build a prototype

Audience:
Novice and intermediate designers and developers.

Technology discussed in this session:
Various mobile devices, Mindjet, Visio, PowerPoint, Mockflow, Invision

Student technology needs:
Participants should bring a smartphone or tablet and must be able to connect to Wi-Fi to use online programs.
