Ecosystem 2014 - March 19, 2014

Lance Dublin

CEO & Chief Solution Architect
Dublin Consulting

In his review of the potential impact of technology on learning in his 2008 article Minds on Fire, technology and learning guru John Seely Brown claimed the building blocks that allow for the emergence of “open participatory learning ecosystems” now exist. While most organizations may not yet be able to achieve Brown’s vision, they can certainly accelerate their movement in that direction.

By combining the traditional functionalities now found in most learning management systems with additional functionalities being added and new plug-and-play systems, it’s possible to create a learning ecosystem that is increasingly learner-centered and that supports a learning process unconstrained by time, place, and technology. In this session you will explore both the vision for, and the reality of, learning ecosystems, and look at what’s possible today to develop a learning ecosystem for your organization that goes beyond the LMS.
