Engaging eLearning Isn’t Just Interactivity
Learning Solutions Conference & Expo 2015 - March 26, 2015
Senior Manager of Staff Training
The Cheesecake Factory
As instructional designers we always want to make learning more engaging. Many times deadlines and resource constraints limit our ability to take eLearning beyond being just a page turner. The easy answer is to add interactivity, but interactivity on its own isn’t enough. Engaging eLearning needs more than just clickable graphics and drag and drop elements.
In this session participants will explore real, tangible examples of actual courses in production which engage the learner in a number of ways. You will learn the importance of immersing the learner in the training situation. You will discuss adding human elements of story, characters, and narrative to the course. You will examine how to make the learner an active participant in the training instead of just a passive observer. You will leave this session able to build eLearning that adapts to the strengths and weaknesses of the learner.
In this session, you will learn:
- How to make the learner a participant in a course
- Techniques for adding human elements to eLearning
- Templates you can apply to your own industry/company
- Tips for making your learning adapt to your learners
Novice to advanced designers, developers, project managers, and managers.
