The eLearning Guild prides itself as being a trusted source of information, networking, and community for eLearning professionals. To meet this goal, we collect some personal data from its members and non-member users of the website.
The eLearning Guild is committed to protecting your personal data. We strive to collect the minimum amount of personal data we need and to hold and use it only as long as necessary to deliver the outstanding service and products you expect.
1. Information from Members.
When you become a member of The eLearning Guild or register to attend one of our conferences or other events, we need to collect your contact information to communicate with you about your membership or event and to deliver any subscription products you may purchase. We collect other data from you to help us tailor your experience to your personal and professional interests. You are able to view and edit this contact information in your Member Profile.

Protecting your information is a team effort. We use industry standard security technology and procedures to protect your personal data from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure. You also must not share your username or password with others and we recommend that you take every precaution to protect your data when using the Internet, especially when using public computers (such as at a university or library) or networks, especially unsecured Wi-Fi.

4. Data Retention Period.
The standard membership period to The eLearning Guild is three years. During this period we will contact you according to the contact preferences you indicate in your member profile.
Each year, we will ask you to review your contact information and consent preferences and update them (if necessary). If you do not log in to review and update your information, or do not renew your membership at the end of the three-year term, your account will be in an inactive status for another year. During the inactive period, we will contact you only with membership renewal reminders. At any time during the inactive period, you will be able to log in to your member profile, renew your membership, or upgrade to paid subscription service.
5. Contact Consent Preferences
In your member profile, you must provide an email address so we can communicate with you about membership status, but you may also opt-in to provide us consent to contact you by email, telephone, or postal mail for specific purposes listed in the contact consent preferences section of the profile.
6. Right to Rectification.
The eLearning Guild services work best when your information is accurate and complete. You may log in to your membership profile at any time to correct or update any of your contact information or your preferences and contact consents.
If you are unable to correct the information in your profile to your satisfaction, please contact us at service@elearningGuild.com and we will promptly remedy the problem with your data.
7. Termination of Membership and Right to be Forgotten.
You may cancel your membership or paid content subscriptions at any time by clicking on the “Terminate Membership” link located on the contact consent preferences page of the member profile. Termination immediately terminates your right to use the free member services or paid content. Refunds will not be issued for cancelled or terminated memberships. Registrations for upcoming conferences or other future events will be unaffected. Your personal data will be immediately purged when you request termination, except that the contact information for those registered for upcoming conferences or other events will be retained until the event has occurred so we can update you with important event information.
8. Collection of Personal Information
8.1 Registration Information. When you register as a member with The eLearning Guild, you must provide contact information and general information about you and your organization. Specifically we collect the following types of information during the registration process.
- Job Title
- Principal Job Focus
- Job Level
- Number of employees in your organization
- Purchasing Authority
- Company Industry
- Email address
- Home/work/mobile telephone number
- Postal or other physical street address
- Credit/debit card information (to process purchases of paid content)
- Internet Protocol Address
- Browser Type
- Operating System
- Internet Service Provider (ISP)
- Referring and exit pages
- Date/Time of access; and
- Website analytics about where you click while browsing our website.
8.3 Your member profile is the primary source for the personal data we collect from you related to your membership. You can access that information there. If you would like copies of other personal data that we may have retained, please submit a request to service@eLearningGuild.com and we will reply within 30 days.
9. Processing of your Personal Data
9.2 Prior to forwarding your personal data to a third-party processor, the Service will enter into a written “Data Processing Agreement” that, among other things, requires the third party to:
- comply with applicable data protection laws;
- implement appropriate technical and organizational security measures;
- notify the Service in the event of a breach of personal data; and
- require any of the third-party’s vendors or sub-processors to likewise agree to such protections in writing.
10. Providing Personal Data to Third Parties
We do not sell your contact information to any third parties.
We may provide your contact information to e-learning industry partners but only if you are specifically opted-in to receive partner offers as part of your contact consent preferences. You may opt out of such contact at any time by following the instructions included in each email, or by revising your contact consent preferences in your member profile.
From time to time, we may offer third-party sponsored content on our website that includes a data collection form, which helps the third party deliver service or support to you. As with other data collection, you may opt out of these third-party offers in your contact consent preferences in your member profile.
11. Third-Party Links
In our attempt to provide increased value to you, we may provide various third-party links from our websites or in our email communications. Even if the third-party is affiliated with The eLearning Guild, we have no control over the third-party sites, each of which may have separate privacy and data collection practices, which are independent of ours. We strive to protect the integrity of our websites and the links placed upon them, so if you have issues or concerns about a third-party site or its privacy practices, please contact us at service@eLearningGuild.com.
12. Third-Party Content
We distribute content supplied by third parties and members. Any opinions, advice, statements, services, offers, or other information or content expressed or made available by third parties, members, or any other website user, are those of the respective author(s) and not of The eLearning Guild.
