P11 Adapting Agile Project Management for Instructional Design

8:30 AM - 4:30 PM Tuesday, October 28

Gauguin 2

Managing an eLearning project can be extremely challenging. Many eLearning professionals are beginning to look at the agile development methods commonly used in software development as a means of improving eLearning project management. Agile provides a framework for adapting to change as it happens, and working with stakeholders to deliver the content most-needed by learners.

In this workshop you will learn how to adapt agile project management methods to your instructional design projects. You will explore the required tools and supplies for agile project management, how to choose a project to pilot, and how to prepare your team for agile. You will learn how agile techniques improve centralized information, keep projects on track, and manage hours and resources more effectively. You will apply agile to real-world scenarios that will help you apply these methods to your own work projects.

In this session, you will learn:

  • How to describe agile project management methods to your clients, teammates, and stakeholders
  • To understand how agile methods resolve some of the inherent shortcomings of traditional methods
  • How to choose a project for your first agile engagement based on several criteria for success
  • How to communicate the benefits of using agile to team members
  • What supplies you need to manage your first project using agile

Audience:
Novice to advanced designers, developers, project managers, managers, and directors with project management responsibilities.
