Director of Training
You're an instructional-design ninja. You have tried-and-true approaches for the classroom, eLearning, performance support, even mobile—but have you thought about how to design simulations? The best simulations-design process uses elements of task analysis, game design, and some old-fashioned psychology to create environments your learners will return to again and again.
Participants in this session will explore usable, practical simulation-design processes distilled from the experience of several real-world projects. Through a handful of case studies, real-world experiences, and pointers to relevant research, you’ll learn techniques for working with SMEs, how much “real world” fidelity your simulations need, how to sequence a chain of simulations for effective learning, and how to design a simulation QA testing plan. You’ll also look at past uses of simulations in mobile learning, and consider future possibilities including how you can use emerging tools to create mobile simulations.
In this session, you will learn:
- How to design a plan for getting useful information from your SMEs
- How to design a project plan for creating new simulations
- How to make informed decisions about your simulations’ appearance and structure
