Blended Learning—All the Right Ingredients

Online Forums 2015 - February 26, 2015
Client services didn’t have a formalized training program for new employees—training was conducted by an individual team lead over several weeks, but was inconsistently delivered. With slim resources, the team lead was unable to dedicate enough time to properly train new employees while supporting existing employees, and new hires lacked confidence to do the job. It didn’t make sense to request eLearning courses because of the vast amount of content.
In this case-study session, you will see a working example of a blended curriculum that engages learners with lots of interactivity, flexibility, and fun. You’ll learn how Availity created a blended training program that engages the learner by offering a variety of activities including shadowing sessions, hands-on tasks, workbooks (repurposed content), self-paced eLearning, self-created job aids, games, and social media all wrapped up in a competition that engages the learners and makes learning stick. The learners finish the program with confidence and the team lead can focus her time supporting all the team members without sacrificing. You’ll also see some mistakes in the curriculum and pitfalls to avoid.
In this session, you will learn:
- The elements of a blended curriculum
- Ideas for developing a blended curriculum of your own
- Ideas for adding variety and interactivity to any curriculum
- Mistakes to avoid
- How anyone with a little imagination can create an engaging blended curriculum
Intermediate and advanced instructional designers, developers, and project managers who want to kick their courses and curricula up a notch, be more engaging, make learning stick, and have more fun.
