The lack of gender diversity in technology-based organizations is a hot topic. Forward-thinking technology organizations are trying to attract, develop, and retain the best female talent. How can they increase the ranks of women in their workforces and in leadership positions? At the same time, learning professionals are searching for what makes virtual learning work, whether formal, informal, or social/collaborative. What are the recipes for success? What are the pitfalls to avoid? How can you build a program that can scale, whether national, regional, or global?

Participants in this session will learn about the successful intersection of women in technology and virtual learning through an in-depth look at SAP’s award-winning, mostly virtual, yearlong program aimed at boosting women in management: LEAP (Leadership Excellence Acceleration Program). Created with no budget, LEAP provides a robust formal and informal online curriculum plus sophisticated social learning. Bridging the theoretical and practical are virtual job shadowing, career planning, meetings with recruiters, bidirectional mentoring, and executive sponsorship. Discover how your organization can leverage virtual learning to “crack the code” on gender diversity, facilitate true career growth, build game-changing participant camaraderie, and generate measurable results.

In this session, you will learn:

  • How to apply a leadership model to a virtual initiative
  • A process for identifying and tracking key success metrics for the initiative
  • Tips on securing virtual executive support and participation
  • Techniques and tips for going global, virtually
  • How to boost career growth for high-potential talent by being exceptionally practical
  • How to tailor leadership development to women in your organization

Audience:
Intermediate to advanced designers, developers, project managers, managers, and directors who are interested in virtual learning, leadership development for women, or both—or any learning professionals looking for fresh ideas. You should have a basic familiarity with virtual learning tools, including their benefits and pitfalls. Knowledge of leadership development principles is helpful, but not required.
