The College of Westchester
We’re always looking for ways to maximize the value of training time and to see that it results in effective changes on the job. The flipped classroom model is a concept that has gained a lot of support in the 21st-century classroom. These are the students who will enter the workplace, and many are there now.
This session will look at flipped learning, a technique that has grown in popularity in academia. The Horizon Report for 2015 states “The Flipped Classroom is noted as one of two technologies that are ready for widespread adoption in the near term (1 year or less).” In a recent article for ATD, Jon Bergmann and Aaron Sams note that flipping in corporate training will allow for more class time with hands-on or simulation activities. We have different generations of workers in the workplace. The flipped classroom offers a chance for people to learn more effectively together by moving the presentation of information outside of the classroom (pre-work) and more of the conversation and collaboration into the classroom.
In this session, you will learn:
- How flipping moves beyond lecture/presentation of material
- Examples of flipped learning in professional development
- Techniques and tools to flip a session
- What others are doing
Instructors, instructional designers, and managers interested in “flipping” the classroom.
