Future of Learning Summit 2017 - February 15, 2017
Vice President, Strategic Innovations Group
Like many major technology and business transitions in the past, the Internet of Things (IoT) is impacting jobs and roles in the workspace. Some of the roles are affected; you don’t need to send a person to check the status of the meter now that the meter is connected and sending you the information remotely. But at the same time, so many new jobs are being created, from data scientists to remote operators to application developers.
The initial phase of IoT adoption is focused on improvements in efficiency and profitability. But the IoT is also starting to create new revenue opportunities and new value propositions, from mass customization and personalization to the adoption of new service-oriented business models. What will this mean for the businesses and workers L&D supports, and what does this mean for the future of organizational learning?
