Executive Vice President and Executive Director
The eLearning Guild
Curation is a term that is becoming more and more common in the learning field. Unfortunately, most people do not understand who curators are, what curation really is, when and where it should be used, why it’s important, and how to put it into practice. Yet it is a critical future competency for those in the field.
In this session, you will learn what curation is and how to define it in the context of learning and performance. You will examine the various types and levels of curation that exist (including aggregation, filtering, elevation, mash- or match-ups, and timelines). You’ll see examples of each that show the value curation adds to learning programs, as well as the techniques that contributed to those examples. You will leave this session with answers to the critical questions that need to be asked when you start leveraging curation as part of your learning strategy.
In this session, you will learn:
- What curation looks like in the context of learning
- When and where curation should be used
- Why curation is important to 21st-century training
- How to put curation into practice
