Being able to create online learning for academic organizations is difficult enough — but for one that has the tradition of face-to-face instructional delivery for the last 100 years? The cultural, technological, cost, and human-resource barriers related to rapidly developing e-Learning content for the University of Tennessee Extension (UTE) were daunting, but overcoming each of these proved to be a rewarding process for subject-matter experts (SMEs), administrators, and learning audiences. As a case study, UTE’s content-development process involved all the barriers one would expect in a traditional, university-based outreach unit that has traditionally relied on face-to-face instruction delivery. To be successful, rapid e-Learning development must rely on best practices, sound project management, and valid instructional design.
Participants in this case-study session will learn how UTE developed specific business processes to create momentum and success in online-content development. You’ll learn how UTE’s best-practice formulas relate to practical applications, and see a step-by-step process for attaining your own “rapidly rapid” online learning development process.
