Weaving eLearning Experiences in The Cloud
Online Events Archive
Online Forums 2012 - June 8, 2012
The cloud has many forms and functions. One of these is the “cloud of applications” that can communicate through web services. The cloud of applications allows eLearning to be more dynamic by using real-time data and by embedding information gleaned from social networks. Another cloud is the “cloud of content,” which is becoming more abundant and more accessible, and contextual information about content is becoming at least as valuable as the content itself. What does this mean for eLearning? For learners, it means learning experiences that use information and communication technology in fundamentally different and more effective ways. For eLearning designers and developers, it means learning new skills. For the content industry, it means new legal and business challenges. And for technologists, it means new tools, standards, and infrastructure.
Participants in this session will learn how the cloud — both applications and content — is changing the way you can put together eLearning experiences, what existing skills you should emphasize or de-emphasize, what new skills you need, and what standards and infrastructure are developing to support eLearning in the cloud. You’ll see these principles demonstrated through examples and publicly available data.
In this session, you will learn:
- How the cloud is evolving, and what that means for eLearning
- Where eLearning and the cloud is going, and how to prepare for it
- How to take advantage of new technologies and capabilities
