In The eLearning Guild’s 2017 eLearning Salary & Compensation Report, Sharon Vipond and Temple Smolen report findings from the Guild’s salary survey. Compensation findings are broken down by variables including US state and metropolitan area, gender, industry, size of company, number of people managed, years of eLearning experience, time in position, education level, and job focus area.

The average US base salary of $83,139 is up 3.46% compared to the US national average of $80,359 that we reported in 2016. The 2017 average annual salary for non-US respondents was $63,103. In the US, California reports the highest average salary (at $101,799), with Minnesota ($98,969), Washington state ($94,922), and Maryland ($94,102) all relatively close behind. As in 2016, the state of Missouri again reported the lowest US average, at $65,694. The US metropolitan areas with the highest average salaries are in California: San Jose/San Francisco/Oakland at $106,515, followed by Los Angeles/Long Beach at $101,946.

The report includes a link to the Guild’s updated 2017 salary calculator which gives users the option to compute and compare national US baseline salaries. Also provided are practical suggestions for utilizing the data contained in the report, such as an action plan if your salary doesn’t measure up.

The data in the report were collected from more than 2,600 online survey respondents.

Using data from the 2017 US eLearning Salary & Compensation Report, we updated our US Salary Calculator. This calculator allows users to compute and compare US national baseline salaries. View Calculator.
