P04 B.Y.O.L.: Storyboard to Storyline

8:30 AM - 4:30 PM Monday, September 28

123

Most eLearning projects are subject to time restraints. With a tool like Storyline, it’s easy to jump right in and start developing to meet those deadlines. But without a storyboard, the current design you’re developing compromises the outcome; there is no time to go backward and redesign the instruction. Invariably we look back realizing we could have done better if only given more time to design. A good design will arguably take more than half of the project timeline, but a good design maximizes the time once you move to development.

In this workshop you will explore the importance of the storyboarding and design phase and learn how much more efficient the development process can be when you do storyboarding well. You will discover how users of Articulate Storyline can refine the storyboard process in a way that directly reflects aspects of the tool, as well as offers specific instructions and guidelines for development of your project. You will leave this workshop understanding storyboarding and having created a set of storyboard templates that matches the development environment in Storyline.

In this session, you will learn:

  • How to storyboard for Storyline from beginning to end
  • The different types of storyboards
  • How to create a style guide for an eLearning project
  • About asset management and progress tracking

Audience:
Novice and intermediate designers, developers, project managers, and managers. While this workshop is geared for the beginner, this is not about how to use Articulate Storyline. Having experience and a good understanding of Articulate Storyline is a plus.

Technology discussed in this session:
Articulate Storyline and MS Office.

Participant technology requirements:
A laptop with licensed copies of Articulate Storyline, Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, and Excel installed.
