The growth of social networking applications continues to accelerate, and this attracts attention from e-Learning designers and developers. How to put these to work in the service of learning? The application to informal learning is fairly obvious, but their use in formal learning has proven more problematic. The answer is to reframe the question: What needs for social support are not being met in formal learning applications?
