Perhaps you need to add more value to your e-Learning (and yourself) in 2009. But, with the present economy and downsizing, how will you do it? Maybe, like so many of us, you face significant budget and staff cuts, but you still need to create compelling and effective e-Learning. You can add more value, and better learner retention, to your e-Learning by using Second Life as a 3-D application for creating virtual agents, and/or video, for scenario-based training. It's easy to learn, rapid to develop and reuse, and almost free to implement.
Session participants will learn how to exploit Second Life as a tool, rather than a platform. You’ll learn how to quickly build, and save, sets and wardrobes, and make a cast of characters. You’ll learn to increase the quality of your video and get results similar to expensive virtual agent software, but with more flexibility for characters, outfits, and settings. You can import the video you create directly into your Flash material, and use it in Podcasts. You’ll get an extensive library of video tutorials, PDF guides, and in-world places to practice and develop your skills free.
In this session, you will learn:
- How to set up Second Life for great performance
- How to use Second Life building tools
- How to create actors, wardrobes, and sets for reuse
- How to set up and film effective motion to engage learners
- How to leverage and reuse your created assets
- How to incorporate your video and audio into Flash
- How OpenSim is a free option to Second Life
